Researchers in Denmark

If you wish to obtain tissue from The Brain Collection, an ethical approval from your Regional Scientifics Committee is required. If you only wish to obtain data from The Brain Collection, an ethical approval from a Danish University ethics committee is required.

Foreign applicants

For researchers outside Denmark who wish to obtain tissue or data from The Brain Collection, an ethical approval is required. The ethical approval must be in accordance with the legal and institutional rules which governs research in the applicant's country and institution. 

Data and Material Transfer Agreement

Depending on the type of project and specific requirements, it may be necessary to establish a Data and Material Transfer Agreement. These documents will be prepared by the Brain Collection.

Research collaboration 

For research collaboration a research collaboration agreement will be drawn up by The Brain Collection, stating terms and conditions.

• Preliminary questions may be send to the Brain Collection via email: brain-collection@rsyd.dk.
• Applications including the necessary ethical approval may be submitted to the Brain Collection via the Contact and Application form
• Exchange and clarification of objectives and possibilities between the researcher and the Brain Collection via email, telephone, and/or initial meetings (physical or virtual).
• Preparation of a Data and Material Transfer Agreement and submission of a project description to the Brain Collection’s website.
• Execution of the project
• Project completion includes return of left over tissue and/or deletion of data in accordance with the Data and Material Transfer Agreement
• In the event of publication, the Brain Collection must be acknowledged in all publications. The Brain Collection must also be notified of the publication, after which a link to the scientific article will be published on the website.
